Weekend Warriors

We had an awesome weekend in North Carolina with the Urquharts before they embark on their next Army assignment. You see our brother-in-law Dan is a chaplain in the army and the army doesn't believe in keeping their soldiers in one place very long. We are thankful that they live closer now than when they were stationed in California and will still be in the Eastern part of the country in less than a month.

In order to get to N.C. we had to drive six hours with a three year old, that's what makes me and Daddy weekend warriors. Well Daddy's the driver and I'm the boy's entertainer. It's good to have a plan and lots of activities for the car for those times when Noah begins to moan, I want out of my carseat. Sorry son, there are laws that we refuse to break and this is one of them.

We arrived in North Carolina at dinnertime so we met Autumn and Elijah at Red Robin. I LOVE this place! We live in the suburbs of Atlanta, but we don't have a Red Robin close to us. I was thankful when Autumn said that sounds great. So, we met and the boys quickly began playing together. Remember one of those boys was a three-year-old who had been cooped up in the car for approximatley seven hours. Let's just say there were flips and tricks that took place at our booth at Red Robin. We contained him until the patrons around us left, then we let him do almost everything he wanted.

Noah loved the trampoline!

Then we went to the Urquharts house where the boys continued to run and play. Early on Friday morning Elijah had an appointment with an oral surgeon. We weren't sure how the rest of the weekend would play out since we thought Elijah's activity would be limited. Let's just say the surgeon said it was fine for him to run and jump as long as he felt up to it. Kids are resilient, even twelve-year-old kids. After lunch, Elijah had a fat lip and was a little sore, but he wanted to play with the little one. The boys played and the parent chatted, good times. Later that night, we played glow-in-the dark pirate golf and enjoyed dinner at a Japanese steakhouse.

Autumn giving the pirate some love!

Of course, there were a few minor boo-boos along the way.

Elijah didn't feel sorry for Noah.

One sad boy.

The rest of the weekend was spent having Nerf gun wars, jumping on the trampoline, wrecking Elijah's lego creations (sorry E) and simply having a hootin nanny of a good time! We did venture to a rescue zoo on Saturday which will be featured in a separate post. On Saturday night, the dads even participated in the Nerf gun war. The girls escaped for a few hours with a short shopping trip only to return and got caught in the cross-fire.
