One Day Old and Counting

Day 2 in the world was filled with major events. There were more exams, checks, tests, and minor procedures. However, these all paled in comparison to the moment that the name was chosen. After months of careful, sometimes obsessional thought, and after having spent his first full day in the world with him, April and Daniel knew that this was Noah Emerson Rogers.

With a name in place, it was time to be more alert. April and Daniel worked to perform the swaddling as tight as the nurses because it seemed to help Noah sleep. As an additonal bonus, the GloWorm look is fantastic.

Everyone we know called daily, at least four times each, to get updates. Several more friends (now all new aunts and uncles) stopped by to visit. Baba was there to be a calming force.

In trying to figure out a routine, Daniel took over much of the rocking.

After committing to no pacifier (pa) for fear of the much dreaded "nipple confusion," we found the early morning difficult to manage without at least a little bit of pa. Noah had trouble keeping the pa in without our help. However, once when he came back from an exam, we saw how the nurses solve this problem.
